Overview

The Shailesh J Mehta School of Management at IIT Bombay has built its reputation by providing quality Management Education combined with a strong analytical and technology-driven foundation. SJMSOM utilizes the tremendous intellectual ecosystem at IIT Bombay to develop tomorrow's leaders. The design of the curricula is to build on the analytical/thinking and innovation skills of students by integrating the core functions of management with technology-driven courses such as R&D Management. The school will also help prepare students to meet challenging global business environments using a technological approach through the emphasis of interdisciplinary research and engagement with industry.

Admission Process

To apply to this program, you must be a graduating senior with at least a 60% overall average (or 55% if you're in SC/ST/PwD). You also need to have a CPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale to be considered. Originally designed for Engineers, the program is now open to anyone with any kind of degree — so applicants can have come from Business, Arts & Humanities, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility to participate in the selection process is based on having a valid CAT 2025 score. Applications must be submitted to the SJMSOM portal by the first week of February 2026. Selection for Personal Interviews (PI) will take place in March 2026 and will be based upon the total score composite (made up of CAT score, Academic Profile and Work Experience) achieved by the candidate. Final selection will be made based upon the overall evaluation of the candidate throughout all evaluation stages.

1. Campus & Accommodation

The students of SJMSOM live in IIT Bombay's hostels that are comfortable and well equipped. The residential units provide Wi-Fi Internet access, 24 hours security, laundry service, and other areas for studying. The residents also have access to a number of multi-cuisine mess facilities (some open late at night), banks, ATMs, full service hospital, and other on-campus buildings offering many amenities.

2. Academic Facilities

Designed for engagement, the school has air-conditioned U-Shaped amphitheater-style classrooms that offer an environment conducive to interactive debate and case study style learning. The infrastructure of the school includes high-tech analytical labs with licensed analytical software like MATLAB, Tableau and SPSS, along with a large specific management library. Additionally, students have continuous access to the massive IITB Central Library, in addition to many other high-end computing resources.

3. Sports & Recreation

Students take pleasure in having access to world-class sports centres featuring an Olympic-size swimming pool, multiple large outdoor cricket and soccer fields that have lighting systems, and a synthetic athletics track. The school contains numerous indoor sporting facilities including courts for badminton, squash and basketball and several new areas for gymnastics. Life at this school is enhanced by many special events throughout each academic year, including the two largest events called Avenues and the Mood Indigo festival.
