Admission Process

IIT Madras' admission to its engineering programs follows a rigorous and very transparent process. To apply for Engineering at IIT Madras you must first pass the JEE Main in order to be eligible to take the JEE Advanced exam. If you have passed the JEE Advanced, students can then choose courses and institutes based on their rank, category, and seat availability through the centralized JoSAA counselling process.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates may apply to IIT Madras engineering programs if they have completed the 12th grade or equivalent education level and have taken Physics, Chemistry & Math as their three main subjects. Candidates must also qualify for both the JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams, meet the required minimum amount of marks/rank, satisfy the age limits and eligibility requirements, and satisfy the other conditions as outlined by JoSAA and the IITs.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras' placement system for engineering programs have a significant level of integration with the world of work due to a strong connection to the industry as well as providing a programming experience for students by offering various forms of support including: opportunities for skill development; internships; exposure to research; and access to career counselling. Infrastructure

1. Campus & Accommodation

The IIT Madras campus is a self-contained residential space built within the lush environment surrounding its campus site and consists of secure, modern student housing (hostels). The student hostels consist of several hostel buildings with comfortable room spaces equipped with LAN / Wi-Fi connectivity as well as common areas, recreation spaces, and other related services. The self-contained residential areas provide both undergraduate and graduate students with structured community living, well-managed amenity spaces,.

2. Academic Facilities

IIT Madras provides robust academic infrastructure, including a number of academic departments, a variety of excellent laboratories, a number of research centres, and a variety of specialised facilities. A central library makes available a large volume of printed and electronic materials to facilitate learning; and advanced research laboratories allow innovations from many areas of study. In addition, dedicated spaces for collaboration between industry personnel, as well as research parks, further build upon the academic capabilities of IIT Madras.

3. Sports & Recreations

The school offers many different kinds of athletic and leisure facilities to enhance student well-being and teamwork. We have both indoor and outside courts, many football, cricket, hockey, tennis and volleyball fields, a pool that conforms to Olympic standards, workout places (gyms) and special sports buildings. All of these things help create active sports clubs and offer inter-hostel competitions that encourage student participation in order to foster physical fitness as well as friendship with other students while maintaining their studies.
