Overview

The Management Studies Program at IIT Roorkee is an integration of Management education, Technology Development and Research excellence. The faculty's emphasis on providing students with the necessary analytical, leadership, and strategic capabilities to manage organisations effectively in an ever-changing business environment is consistent with the overall mission of the Department. To build these capabilities, a practical-based approach is utilised across the core content areas of Management Studies through the use of case studies and a research-based learning environment. Graduates will develop critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to generate creative solutions, and apply their knowledge of Management to the real world through the application of what they learn in class to real-world problems. Ethics and sustainability, as well as a commitment to developing responsible leaders, are key elements of the Department's mission that serve to provide graduates with the skills and abilities to be effective managers, consultants, and leaders that can meet the complex needs of industry and society. The Department of Management Studies at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee provides students with the tools they need to be leaders in today's digital world by creating a culture of "techo-managerial" thinking. These students will be able to succeed in their future careers as corporate executives and entrepreneurs because of the numerous ways that they are nurtured as leaders and challenged intellectually through inter-disciplinary academic programs.

Admission Process

Selecting candidates to be admitted into the Program will involve a multi-stage, competitive selection process. Candidates will initially be shortlisted by CAT 2025 scores before progressing into both a Personal Interview and Group Discussion. The final merit list will be based on a weighted score: 60% CAT performance, 30% for Personal Interview, and 10% for eligible work experience, thereby providing a complete review of the candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for admission, candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in any field with at least 60% overall and 55% (SC/ST/PD) or the equivalent CGPA. Further, Candidates who are graduates of IIT with a CGPA of 7.0 or greater will not need to take the CAT and will be invited to the interview directly. Current undergraduate students may still apply, as provisional applicants.

1. Campus & Accommodation

The main building of the Institute is designed in the Renaissance architectural style and is surrounded by several student hostels (Bhawan's), including Rajendra Bhawan and Kasturba Bhawan. The Bhawan's provide access to high-speed internet, quality food services and are equipped with canteens that are open 24 hours a day. The purpose of these residential centres is to support a vibrant "Bhawan culture" with activities such as late-night conversations and informal peer-supported learning environments.

2. Academic Facilities

DoMS includes modern air-conditioned classrooms and an exclusive departmental library containing more than 170,000 materials as well as top-of-the-line databases including EBSCO and CMIE. Students also have access to the Internet Super Highway Centre and the P.K. Kelkar Central Library, along with state-of-the-art computer laboratories that have high-end workstation computers used for advanced modelling of data and research purposes.

3. Sports & Recreation

Olympic quality training facilities available at the Institute include the Dhyan Chand Stadium, a multi sport indoor gym, and a swimming pool. Each student can participate in different activities, including trekking, white cash rafting, and squash. Furthermore, students can express themselves through the Hobbies Club or through various student-run cultural cells providing outlets for creative endeavours in music, photography, and large scale festival event management during festivals such as Thomso.
