Overview

The Symbiosis National Aptitude Test is an MBA entrance exam held once per year that gives students who take the exam an opportunity to attend Symbiosis institutions. The examination consists of questions that measure general English, quantitative aptitude, analytical reasoning, and the ability to interpret and create graphs and charts; business schools use this information to limit their number of applicants for postgraduate management programs across the country.

Eligibility

SNAP is the entrance for the postgraduate management programmes of the Symbiosis International Deemed University institutes.

  • Degree: a bachelor's degree of at least three years from a recognised university, with at least 50% aggregate. The bar is 45% for SC and ST candidates.
  • Final-year students: eligible, with admission conditional on producing the result by the stated date.
  • Attempts: more than one sitting is permitted within a cycle, and the best score counts.

Registering for SNAP is only the first half. Each Symbiosis institute and each programme is applied to separately, and a candidate who takes SNAP without applying to any programme cannot be considered.

How to Apply

The application is an online form on the official SNAP website. Everything below is done in one sitting or saved and returned to; nothing is done on paper.

1

Register

Create an account on the official SNAP website with an email address and mobile number you will still have months from now -- every notice, the admit card and the result reach you there. A registration number is issued; keep it.

2

Fill the form

Personal details, academic record from class 10 onwards, category, and work experience where it applies. The academic figures must match your marksheets exactly, because they are verified later against the originals.

3

Choose test cities

Cities are given in order of preference and allotted on availability, so the first choice is not guaranteed. Pick somewhere you can reach the morning of the exam without an overnight journey.

4

Upload photograph and signature

Both have to meet the format, size and background stated in the notification. A rejected upload is the most common reason a form is left incomplete past the deadline.

5

Pay the fee

Online, through the official portal only. The amount is set afresh in each year’s notification and is lower for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Keep the payment receipt.

6

Submit, then check

Registering for SNAP is only half of it. Each Symbiosis institute and each programme is applied to separately, with its own fee. A candidate who sits SNAP without applying to a programme cannot be considered for anything.

Apply only through the official portal. No agent can register you, and nobody can change a score once it is declared.

Selection Process

SNAP is a short paper — around an hour — which makes it a test of speed under pressure rather than of stamina.

  • Sections cover General English, Quantitative Ability with Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency, and Analytical and Logical Reasoning.
  • There is negative marking, so a guess on a question you have not read properly costs more than it can win.
  • Each institute publishes its own cut-off, and they differ widely between the Pune campuses and the others.
  • Shortlisted candidates attend a group exercise, a written ability test and a personal interaction conducted by the institute concerned.
