Admission Process
The admission procedure is based solely on performance in a national entrance exam, where prospective students must take a set of tests that will be used to rank them for admission into various programs. For example, those wishing to pursue a B.Tech or a B.S. must take JEE Main and achieve a very high score on the subsequent test, i.e. JEE Advanced in order to be eligible for JoSAA counselling. Students seeking MTech.
Eligibility Criteria
Although eligibility differs from program to program, most will require you to have a high standard in academics. To apply as an undergraduate you must have done 10 + 2 education, including: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, with an overall aggregate mark of not less than 75% (or 65% if you are from the SC/ST/PwD). For most master's programs you will also need to hold an appropriate Bachelor’s degree with at least 60% overall or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale from an internationally recognised university.

Infrastructure
The campus consists of 22 residential Halls of Residence housing over 12,000 students, making it feel like a "home away from home". In addition to providing 24/7 internet access, dedicated mess facilities, and communal areas, the residential blocks are equipped with essential facilities such as the B C Roy Technology Hospital, a post office, banks and the Tech Market.
One of Asia's major technical libraries, the Central Library comprises over 350,000 printed volumes. In addition to this, the academic infrastructure is supported by a variety of research centres and facilities such as the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) headquarters, as well as large lecture halls, such as Vikramshila and Takshashila, that include smart classrooms and a number of seats in their auditoriums.
The Gymkhana of the Technology Institute hosts all sporting/non-sporting activities in the two facilities – the Jnan Ghosh and Tata Sports Complex. The main facilities include a full Olympic-sized swimming pool, weight-lifting facilities suitable for use by Olympic-level athletes, and courts for playing tennis, squash and badminton. Also located on the campus are the Netaji Auditorium (used for hosting large cultural events) and Toatpuram (used for hosting festivals).
