Nagpur's national law university placed 967 students under 59 teaching staff in NIRF's Law rankings for 2025, coming in at #28 with a score of 56.54 out of 100. That is a useful reference point for the university's standing among India's law schools that year, though it is only one measure among several worth checking.

Placement records give a fuller picture of outcomes. In the five-year UG law programme, 2023-24 saw 110 students graduate with 85 placed, at a median salary of 7.64 LPA, an improvement on 2022-23, when 105 graduated and 81 were placed at a median of 7 LPA. The 2021-22 batch tells a different story: of 106 graduates, only 20 were placed, with median salary down at 0.5 LPA, suggesting placements can vary considerably from year to year.

The one-year PG law programme shows a smaller and more modest placement pattern throughout. In 2023-24, 21 of 30 graduates were placed at a median salary of 0.6 LPA; in 2022-23, 15 of 24 were placed at 0.5 LPA; and in 2021-22, 35 of 45 were placed, also at 0.5 LPA. Anyone considering the PG route should weigh these figures against the UG numbers, since the salary gap between the two programmes is significant.
